I have a Laserjet 3320 MFP with new pick-up roller and separation pad. Thse parts plus and additional roller have been replaced previously without ccausing the following problem.
I'm printing 8.5"x5.5", self-adhesive shipping labels from the lower tray. If the ambient temperature is below 70F, the printer feeds a second label that gets stuck and causes a printer jam.
The label prints ok. I just have to remove the toner catridge, release the drive train, and pull the second label out of the printer. Above 68F it works perfect until the humidity gets to the high 40s % and above. Then it does the same thing again. I'm aware that I can look at the spec for operating temperature and humidity to check if my environment complies.
I am also aware that the printer is not operating correctly, and may require repair. I'm not looking for an inventory of the obvious. I want to know how to solve the problem, or at least what might be causing it. It used to work perfectly with these same labels.
I'm thinking that the labels might be unsealed for too long. But I hadn't noticed any problem previously. It could be a faulty print driver. I've had misfeeds on other HP printers caused by faulty drivers. I'm using the hplip package with cups. I've performed laser printer maintenance and repair for the last 15 years, all the way back to the Laserjet III.
I have access to parts. I'm just a bit stumped on this one, because it's an older but low-page-count printer. I'm thinking some part might have failed due to age alone.
Maybe it's just too old.
