Hello!
I have an HP LaserJet 3600 that I got back in 2008. Guess what, I'm STILL on the original toner! And I print a lot! All 4 toners are starting to get pretty low though, they're probably around 10-15% each.
I don't want to replace the toner though. It's been 10 years. When I'm out of toner, I'm just going to replace the printer. I've got my monies worth by far, and would like to get something a little smaller, possibly duplex capable, and most of all, something that I can leave turned on, and have it use almost no power while in sleep mode. Unlike this beast and it's 30 watt draw. It also has gotten significantly slower at "preprocessing" pages before printing. It used to fire them out and make it rain, now it does a page, waits a minute, prints page two, waits a minute, and so on.
On any way, on to my problem...
I do most of my printing in Black only to save toner, and most of what I print are invoices and other boring documents.
Occasionally I do print color though and what happens is, when I print color, a little bit of magenta leaks out and leaves streaks on the page. If I print black only for a while, all the streaks will go away. But if I print magenta again, they come back.
I tried taking the magenta out and carefully cleaning all the loose toner off of it, but it seemed to come right back after that. I didn't want to go too crazy without guidance.
I have a big printing job coming up (big for me, not big in a grand sense), and I'd like to do it in color, but I can't have streaks.
