Win7 64-bit. Plenty of RAM etc. Never did scan properly, so I recently downloaded the latest COMPLETE software from HP. Uninstalled old stuff. Start intallation of new. It stops just after extracting and presenting the first screen with a message box that it can't find file: "AppData\Local\Temp\Zz50857\Setup\...\Setup\hpzpnp4..." The "..." in the middle is there, and the "..." at the end is where the title line of the message box cuts off. So I have no idea where in the Setup subdirectory it's looking. But there is a file with that name in the Setup directory itself. I've tried re-downloading several times - no joy, same error. What's going on?
If I download and install just the plain drivers, and hack a bit, I can get the printer working in plain Windows mode, but the scanner in that case is even harder to use and doesn't work in its high-resolution modes.
Do I have to install the 32-bit version even though I have 64=bit Windows?
If this keeps up, the next printer (soon!) will not be HP under any circumstances!
