I'm trying to install the software, under Windows 7, for my OfficeJet J6410. I previously had it installed, and completed the uninstall and ran the L4 batch file, which I think completely removes all traces of the software. So everything should be out and away.
When I run the install program, it gets through the process to "Installing item 4 of 8: HP Solution Centre" and then fails. It displays the message:
Fatal error during installation
Could not write value to key \Software\Classes\Interface\{E4EE78F0-C9D8-46BC-8E98-A949820BAEE6}
Verify you have sufficient access to the key, or contact your support personnel.
Please go to http://www.hp.com/support for troubleshooting information about "Fatal Error" and "MSI.SolutionCentre"
When I checked the registry for the key, it does exist. However, I cannot click on it as I get an error everytime. The error advises that the key cannot be opened as the file is missing. I can't right-click and delete it, as I get the same message. I can't right-click and view the properties as I get the same message. I've tried running registry scanners, and none of them find any errors.
I'm guessing it's a bad key, and I need to get rid of it before I can install the software.
Anyone any idea?
