When I try to scan with this printer it takes forever to run the pages through the scanner, plus if I turn the printer off it disconnects it from my computer and when I try to scan when I turn it back on it says it is not connected to the computer. I have talked to tech support 5-6 times. The last one being two days ago for which I was on the phone with them for 2 hours straight! I tried to scan a 30 page document, it scanned the first 6 pages and then went into a stall. i tried to cancel it so I could rescan and it would not allow me to cancel it, so I had to turn the printer off. Then, it would not scan because it said I was not connected to the computer. So, when I called back tonight, they said I would have to pay them for the tech support! This is tech support I have contacted 5-6 times over the last year and they cannot keep this printer working properly.
In addition, I had a Officejet 8500 before this one and had to get rid of it because it started printing and scanning several blue lines right down the center of the documents. Now this 8600 is doing the same thing!! Tech support told me it was a defective machine, but since it has been over a year since I bought it they would not replace it, even though I have been in contact with them 5-6 over that year. This is a defect that needs to be resolved. Beware buyers!
This is the worse printer, scanner and fax machine ever. It takes it 20-30 minutes to scan or fax a 30 page document. I had a Brothers fax machine that would run a 30 page document through in a minute.
