I have a fresh out of the box brand new HP pavilion 400-224. I, like others have downloaded the Windows 8 drivers (the HP site even recognized that this box has Windows 8.1) for my Officejet Pro l7580
From another post in the forum, I tried "refresing Windows" (nice because it removed all of the other applicatons I spent time installing).
Upon trying to reinstall the drivers after the refresh, I got the error message, something to the effect of: This system file is missing from: c:\windows\system3hpzprl40.exe -inf -m .....
Then I saw this post. I followed the steps to the letter, except that you cannot install Adobe - when tried doing so I received a message that Adobe was already installed/part of IE.
Then after ALL this monkey business, I got the message that the system could not find the file specified. c;\Uses\brian\deskop\7zs44d5\setup\hpzshl.ice_sufix..exe -m
So my question is what now? I have NEVER had to dink around for 4 hours trying to get a printer driver to install - ESPECIALLY one from HP. As another user has posted, the driver is "very broken".
I had to buy this new system (not by choice, and the motherboard failed on my old system), and I have been very disappointed, both with the performance, and the inability to perform a simplete task of installing a print driver.
