Can You Help?.

I have an HP 5510d Printer/Scanner. It was working OK via the Home Network (LAN/Wireless) until recently when it showed a connection error (yellow triangle). I ultimately removed ALL the software, and cleaned the residue off the computer(s) using the Uninstall utility downloaded from H-P`s own site.

So I am thinking I have started afresh? having downloaded the (alleged) latest software/updates etc from H-P I  ran the setup. and tried to put the printer back on the network. The printer shows on the network OK.  AND I can access, print and scan using the “WEB”. (AKA “Airprint” direct). But NOT via my own LAN network!.

If I go into add printer and try to enable the printer, by entering the parameters showing on the printer (IP and password etc) it returns a cannot find error. But following the trouble shooting, just literally send it round in circles, coming back to the same setup page!!

I have checked my “Trust” status in Norton NIS, which shows the printer as trusted along with my other printer (a Cannon) to which I can print via the network!!, and several other devices which all work!. The router does not have mac adressing enabled, so I rule that out as an issue.

When we first bought this printer, I had a similar issue, and (it) being new I contacted H-P. after a lot of “discussion”. They advised that the issue was Windows 7(x64). and that I should re-install the WHOLE of win7!!!. In the end because the device was next to the DELL machine we used it via a USB and forgot about it!. AFTER I was forced by a “Virus” infection to re format windows (Pain in the posterior!!!) I tried reinstalling the Printer on the network and it did indeed work.!! However, the other computer running Win Vista (x32 installed and later x64). had run this device OK anyway!. but following this re-install it too will not print or scan to it via the LAN either!!

What puzzles me most is that (other than the printer software) NOTHING has been changed on either machine, or the network. But neither of them will now print/scan over the Network!! The machine is there. but the software refuses to acknowledge it. What am I missing?. Is the issue in the registry? or?????
