my printer hp 5515 all in one won't print black

I changed the black 564 black cartridge and now it won't print any black. the cartridge was a refill and not an original. However, the color ones are refills and work fine.  I downloaded and installed updated drivers and still the same.  I changed the setting  to unprotected cartridges and no luck.  I removed all 4 cartridges and installed the old almost empty color ones and a new black one.  Still no black.
